Canada and especially BC is culturally diverse. There are many people who support many different religions and many who support no religion. Two BC school districts, Abbotsford and Chilliwack, and possibly others, have a policy of distributing Gideon Bibles to schoolchildren whose parents sign permission slips which clearly promote that particular brand of religion. Public schools should be for everyone regardless of cultural background and should not be making 2nd class students of those children whose parents are not Christians or not the kind of Christians who appreciate the Gideons' campaigns. The Education Act of BC specifies that public schools should be secular. That Act needs to be uniformly enforced.
